Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros

Is it really a surprise that I loved Iron Flame? No not at all. Is it a surprise that I’m also pissed about the ending? Again not at all. I’m invested in these characters and can’t wait to read the next book. 

I love that the personalities of the dragons are really reflected and you can imagine them. Tairns’ arrogance is portrayed perfectly, one of my favorite lines from him is ”I chose you last year for that brilliance, and now you’d like to be congratulated like it’s something new? How odd.” I was a little disappointed that Andarnas’ role was minimal in the beginning, I fell in love with her character in fourth wing and wish she had a bigger part in Iron Flame. I do see her playing a much bigger role in the next book though.

Also, the amount of times I wanted to yell at violet, whether it be her stubbornness or her trying to keep everyone safe by doing what she thinks is best. Although her intentions were in the right place, I felt like she was very selfish and part of that drove Xaden to make the decisions he did.  UGH.

There were quite a few jaw dropping moments in this book that still have my head spinning. I will be needing at least 5 to 10 business days to recover from this book!
