American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins

A story of a mother and son’s journey from Acapulco to the US. This story is filled with tragedy, adventures and action. I listened to this on audiobook and highly recommended listening to it! 

I went into this book pretty blind with only reading the description. I’m really glad I read this book and it’s going to be a book that sits with me for a long time. And I think it’s important to note that this is a work of fiction. I’ve briefly seen that there’s controversy over this book on goodreads but I will not be giving that any time of day. 

The author covers a multitude of difficult topics and in my opinion does an excellent job. Some topics include the cartel and the crime that comes with them, murder, rape, child abandonment, human smuggling and much more. 

I highly recommend reading this one!!
